Group Categories on the Groups Page β€” Next Gen App

I would like to request Group Categories for the BuddyBoss Next Gen App.

Desired behavior

On the main Groups page, users should first be able to browse Groups by category instead of immediately seeing one long list of Groups.

For example:

Browse by Group Type

  • Category A
  • Category B
  • Category C
  • Category D
  • Category E

Each category should be shown as a clear row or card, optionally with an icon and the number of Groups inside it.

When a user taps a category, they should be taken to a filtered Groups screen showing only the Groups within that category.

Example flow

Groups

Search groups...

Browse by Group Type

Category A
126 groups

Category B
58 groups

Category C
42 groups

The user taps a category and then sees the relevant Groups inside it.

Why this is important for the Next Gen App

As communities grow and contain more Groups, a single Groups directory becomes difficult to navigate.

Group Categories would make it much easier for users to:

  • Discover Groups that match their interests
  • Navigate large communities
  • Find relevant Groups faster
  • Understand how Groups are organized
  • Join more relevant Groups
  • Avoid scrolling through hundreds of unrelated Groups

Admin options

Ideally, admins should be able to:

  • Create custom Group Categories
  • Assign Groups to a category
  • Choose the order of categories
  • Add an icon or image to each category
  • Show the number of Groups inside each category

The existing Group search functionality could remain available at the top of the page.

This request is specifically for the BuddyBoss Next Gen App and the attached mockup shows the type of Groups browsing experience I mean.
