the current implementation of the link previews (settings->activity) is causing headaches because according to our legal experts this will invite copyright problems. once the link is posted the image associated with that link is stored on our server and this is where the problem begins. whenever we use an image on our site (and it doesn't matter how it got there) then we need to have the rights to use it - which in these cases there was no explicit permission given by the image copyright owner. to solve this a new setting would be appreciated where the shop admin in the backend can basically decide if he wants to have such images stored on his server (so the way it is now) OR if he simply wants to link to the original image (so the image stays where it is and is not uploaded to the site's server). this way there's no copyright problem then and everything (look feel etc.) still works as is. the only change needed is the image source.
