Restriction for media access has documentation for nginx and apache but Wordpress.com doesn't allow Nginx configuration modification. We need to make sure member content isn't available to non-members on our website. WordPress.com support did say they have support for Easy Digital Downloads without modifications so maybe that information can help you implement a way for those of us on Wordpress.com to be able to protect the privacy of our member's content.
