Modern Member Profiles & Essential Engagement Tools

To sustainably increase community engagement, I'd like to propose a fundamental overhaul of the member profiles. In addition, I want to highlight two older, but in my opinion, critical feature requests for community management.

The Core Problem: Outdated and Cumbersome Member Profiles

The heart of any community is its members. Unfortunately, the presentation of member profiles in BuddyBoss is currently cumbersome and no longer up-to-date. It often takes multiple clicks to view a member's personal feed, their posts, or their profile details. This hinders interaction and the joy of discovery within the community (for App and Web).

The Proposed Solution: A Modern Look for Profiles

I propose a complete modernization of the profile pages, similar to the redesign that the groups recently received. The new look should be modern, clean, and designed for quick interaction.

  • Direct Access: Key areas like the personal activity feed, "About Me," groups, and connections should be accessible directly on the profile page as tabs or in a clear overview.
  • Inspiration: I see the "Ready Launch" approach as a better example of a modern implementation, offering a intuitive and appealing user experience reminiscent of modern platforms like Circle.

However, a visual upgrade alone is not enough. To actively promote engagement, onboarding, and administration, other tools are crucial.

Supporting Features for More Engagement

I believe the following two older feature requests are enormously important and should be a high priority in future development.

1. Moderation and Approval Processes for Content & Members This proposal aims to give community managers control over content quality. There should be an option to require admin approval for new members, newly created groups, and even individual posts before they go live. This is an essential tool against spam and for high-quality onboarding. Link to Request: Require new members, groups and activity posts be approved

2. Smart Suggestions for Connections and Groups This feature would revolutionize networking within the community. The platform should proactively suggest other relevant members or suitable groups to users (e.g., based on profile fields). This is especially helpful for new members to get connected quickly and dramatically increases organic interaction. Link to Request: Suggest connections and groups to members

Conclusion

The combination of modern, engaging member profiles and powerful tools for moderation and proactive networkingwould be a huge leap forward for BuddyBoss. It would empower community managers to build more active, valuable, and secure communities.
