The problem
Community owners currently have no built-in way to monetize their BuddyBoss sites through advertising beyond generic ad plugins that treat every member identically. Meanwhile, BuddyBoss already collects exactly the data that makes social advertising valuable — profile fields, group memberships, forum activity, interests, and engagement history — but none of it can be leveraged for ad delivery.
Proposed feature
A native advertising module that lets site owners (and optionally approved advertisers) create ad campaigns targeted by member attributes, similar to Facebook's ad manager:
Why this matters
Niche communities are precisely where targeted advertising performs best — a specific community, a fitness group, a local business network all have advertisers who would pay well for access to that exact audience. Right now that revenue either doesn't happen or leaks out to Facebook groups. Giving owners a first-party ad system would make BuddyBoss communities financially self-sustaining and give owners a serious reason to move audiences off Facebook and onto their own platform.
Even a v1 with feed placements and profile-field targeting would be a major differentiator — no competing community platform offers this natively.
