I would like to request the ability for BuddyBoss to remember each user's selected activity feed preference.
Currently, when a user switches between feed options such as:
their choice is not retained as their personal default. When they return to the platform, the feed resets again.
For a community platform, I believe this is a very important UX issue.
A successful social/community feed becomes valuable when users can personalize what they see.
For example, on my platform I want members to be able to choose the communities/groups that interest them and then use their group-based feed as their personal home feed.
This allows someone interested in US N Scale to see completely different content from someone interested in UK OO Scale.
However, if BuddyBoss does not remember the feed preference, this personalization breaks every time the user returns.
Users then repeatedly see a feed they did not choose, which adds friction and makes the platform feel less relevant.
Ideally, BuddyBoss would save the user's most recently selected feed option as a user preference.
For example:
The same should apply if the user prefers All Updates, Following, or another feed option.
This could potentially be stored as user metadata and synchronized between web and app.
Large social platforms automatically personalize feeds because relevance is one of the biggest drivers of retention.
For independent BuddyBoss communities, being able to give users control over their feed is even more important.
Without remembering this preference, community owners are forced to choose one default experience for everyone, even though different members may want completely different types of content.
In my case, this is becoming a significant retention issue. Members are already explicitly asking for BuddyBoss to remember their chosen feed preference.
I believe adding this feature would be a major improvement for any BuddyBoss community using groups, following, or multiple activity feed filters.
Suggested feature:
“Remember my selected activity feed / persist activity feed preference per user.”
Thank you for considering it. and please like the geature request so that we can make this priority.
